Better Story is a movement of Christians who believe in Jesus' radical call to compassion, hospitality, and self-sacrificial generosity.

With ideologies of hate and division on the rise - and many appealing to Christianity to advance their position - we are working to provide a uniquely Christian response rooted in love for neighbour and enemy.

JOIN US to tell the full, beautiful, and Better Story of Christ's love.

Educate

To stay true to the teachings of Jesus in the face of growing hatred and division, Christians need to lean on the wisdom of theologians and thinkers past and present.

Better Story hosts talks from experts and shares theological content through our members’ newsletter.

Communicate

To combat the co-option of our faith, Christians need to tell better stories about what it means to faithfully follow Jesus in this polarised political climate.

Better Story communicates through articles, social media, and speaking engagements. We also host communication workshops to empower our members to become great storytellers.

Campaign

We believe strongly in the power of prophetic action. One of the duties of God’s people is to call out religious and secular leaders when they pursue power and status over humility and service. When they reflect Caesar, not Christ.

We organise prophetic actions to challenge the use of Christianity to advance ideologies & policies of exclusion, division, superiority, and hate.

Reconcile

We believe in healing divisions. Ideologies of hate thrive on polarisation.

By organising bridge-building ‘community meals for hope’, establishing ‘peace chaplaincy’ spaces at protests, and holding monthly prayer meetings focused on peacemaking, we work to reduce political and social tensions inflamed by the cooption of Christianity.

What do we do?

Our Values

Love over hate

The global church over the national church

Truth over lies

We believe Christians are called to love - to love God, love our neighbour, and love our enemy

We reject the conflation of Christianity with any singular national identity, believing that the church is a global church where all are welcome

We recognise the damage that misinformation has done to the church and believe in the importance of truth

Reconciliation over division

We believe that the ministry of Jesus is a ministry of reconciliation, both between God and us, and between us and one another

Solidarity with others over protecting ourselves

We stand in solidarity with all those who are victimised by the growth in ideologies of exclusion, division, superiority, and hate.
